Holy Eucharist was conducted on Wednesday Feb 1, 2012 marking the end of three day lent, popularly known as "Nineveh Lent". This is the smallest of the Canonical Lents of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
St. Gregorios Orthodox church Houston observed all the hourly prayers during this lent. Nineveh lent started with the evening prayer on Sunday at 6:30PM which was followed by devotional speech by Rev. Fr. Christopher Mathew. Monday's devotional speech was delivered by Rev. Dn. Dennis Mathai. On Tuesday Rev. Fr. Mathukutty Varghese delivered the lent message and Rev. Dn. Jake Kurian delivered sermon on the final day following the Holy Eucharist.
On all these days, morning prayers were conducted at 5.00AM followed by Noon prayer at 12.00PM. Even though the turnout was low during the morning and noon prayers, there were still many devoted members.
