Commemoration of St. Gregorios of Parumala, popularly known as "Parumala Perunnal" was celebrated with grandeur and traditional fervor at St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Houston on November 6, 2011.
Expressing joy at the grandeur of this occasion, HG. Abraham Mar Epiphanios said “I had the feeling of having conducted the Qurbana at Parumala Church".
The Perunnal was solemnized with Holy Munnummel Qurbana. HG. Abraham Mar Epiphanios, Metropolitan of Sulthan Bathery Diocese was the chief celebrant. Rev. Fr. Mathukutty Varghese and Rev. Fr. Mammen Mathew were co-celebrants. Presence of Rev. Fr. C.O. Vargis, Vicar of St. Stephens Orthodox Church, Houston and Rev. Dn. Christopher Mathew, Rev. Dn. Jake Kurian and Rev. Dn. Dennis Mathai added to the grace of this occasion.
This year’s perunnal attracted a multitude of Parumala devotees from in and around Houston; all the more because of the Holy relic that was consecrated and installed at the church on Saturday.
There was Holy Qurbana on all days in the week leading upto the perunnal.
In his sermon, HG. Mar Epiphanios explained the significance of the relic and quoted scripture that provide compelling examples of divine power emanated from bodily objects of saints.
Earlier in October, our vicar, Rev. Father P.M.Cheriyan travelled to Parumala to receive the holy relic from HG. kuriakose mar clemis which was authorized by the Diocesan metropolitan HG. Alexios Mar Eusebius

The relic was cermoniously installed at the church on Saturday by HG. Abraham Mar Epiphanios. In his speech, Cheriyan Achen detailed his memorable journey with the relic from parumala.

Perunnal ended with procession, benediction and the love feast.
