Condolence Meeting held for His Grace Geevarghese Mar Osthathios

St. Gregorios Orthodox church, Houston conducted a condolence meeting to honor the contributions of late lamented HG. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios. Osthatios Thirumeni, as he was fondly called was a Senior Metropolitan of the Malankara Orthodox Church. He was a champion of the downtrodden. His contributions to the church and to the community as a whole are innumerable. He was indeed a jewel of the Malankara Orthodox Church. For all his honorable contributions, His Grace was elevated as Sabharatnam by H. H. Baselious Didymos I on Jan. 27, 2008.

Earlier in the evening, Doopa prarthana was conducted by Rev. Fr. P.M.Cheriyan. Rev. Fr. C. O. Vargis, Rev. Fr. mathukutty Varghese, Rev. Fr. Mammen Mathew, Rev. Fr. Dr. V. C. Varghese, Rev. Fr. Santhosh, and Rev. Dn. Dennis Mathai joined in the service and later expressed their greif and sorrow over the demise of His Grace. Mr. Charley Padanilam, Diosesan Council Member also was present to pay his tribute.
